Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Tutors Point platform at tutorspoint.co.uk (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
These Terms apply to all users including students, parents/guardians, tutors, and visitors. Tutors Point Ltd ("we", "us", "our") reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
Our Services
Tutors Point provides an online marketplace connecting students (and their parents/guardians) with independent tutors for one-to-one live tutoring sessions delivered via our virtual classroom.
We offer tutoring across the following levels:
- KS2 (Key Stage 2, Years 3–6)
- KS3 (Key Stage 3, Years 7–9)
- GCSE (Years 10–11)
- A Level (Years 12–13)
Tutors Point is a platform operator. Individual tutors are independent professionals, not employees of Tutors Point. We do not guarantee specific academic outcomes.
User Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, or have parental consent if under 18
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
- One person may not operate multiple student accounts simultaneously
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms
Booking Sessions
- Session bookings are confirmed only upon successful payment (or confirmation of a free session)
- The student's first session with each subject is offered free of charge
- Subsequent sessions are charged at the rate shown during booking
- Booking a slot reserves it exclusively for you. The slot is no longer available to other students
- You will receive an email confirmation with session details and the classroom link
- Sessions take place via the Tutors Point virtual classroom; access opens 10 minutes before the session start time
Payments & Fees
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By providing payment information you authorise us to charge the applicable session fee.
- Prices are displayed in GBP (£) inclusive of any applicable taxes
- Session prices may vary by subject level as shown on the Session Pricing page
- Discount vouchers or promotional codes are applied at checkout where valid
- Payment is taken in full at the time of booking
- Receipts are emailed automatically upon successful payment
Refunds
Refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis. A full refund will be issued if:
- A session is cancelled by the tutor with less than 24 hours' notice
- A technical failure on our platform prevents the session from taking place
Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of the session date by emailing support@tutorspoint.co.uk.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
- Student cancellations: cancellations made more than 24 hours before the session are eligible for a full refund or credit. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable.
- Tutor cancellations: if a tutor cancels or fails to attend, you will receive a full refund or the option to rebook at no additional cost.
- No-shows: if a student does not attend a booked session without cancelling, the session fee is forfeited.
- Rescheduling requests should be made at least 24 hours in advance and are subject to tutor availability.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Harass, abuse, or threaten any tutor, student, or Tutors Point staff member
- Record sessions without the explicit consent of all participants
- Share login credentials with third parties
- Attempt to bypass security measures or gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform
- Post or transmit harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content
- Use the platform to arrange tutoring sessions outside Tutors Point in order to avoid paying fees
Breach of this section may result in immediate account suspension and, where appropriate, legal action.
Tutor Obligations
Tutors registered on Tutors Point agree to:
- Provide accurate information regarding qualifications and experience during the application process
- Hold any required certifications including a valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check
- Deliver sessions professionally, punctually, and to a high standard
- Give reasonable notice if unable to deliver a booked session
- Comply with Tutors Point's safeguarding policy when working with under-18 students
- Not solicit students to book sessions outside the Tutors Point platform
Intellectual Property
All content on the Tutors Point platform, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, button icons, images, and software, is the property of Tutors Point Ltd or its content suppliers and is protected by UK copyright law.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content on the platform without our express written permission.
Tutors retain ownership of any materials they create for sessions. By uploading materials to the platform, tutors grant Tutors Point a non-exclusive licence to display those materials within the context of the tutoring session.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Tutors Point is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform
- We do not guarantee that the platform will be available without interruption or error at all times
- We are not responsible for the quality or outcomes of tutoring delivered by independent tutors
- Our total aggregate liability to you in any 12-month period shall not exceed the total fees you paid to us in that period
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other matter where liability cannot be limited by law.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
Upon termination:
- Access to the platform will be revoked immediately
- Any upcoming booked sessions will be cancelled and refunds issued where applicable
- Your data will be retained in accordance with our Privacy Policy
Governing Law
These Terms and any disputes arising from or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
